How the weapon fits together

The Aberrant is one weapon that changes shape, not a collection of separately looted swords and hammers. Its Forms cover different reach, speed and attack patterns, while a separate Combo Ender choice changes how a chain finishes.

Xbox Wire's opening-hour hands-on names three Primary choices: Flurry's fast daggers, Slash's broad scythe swings and Slice's single-target axe. Later it presents Crush, Drill and Extend as Secondary choices. These are named preview options, not a complete retail Form count.

Upgrades and progression

The Gap lets Dylan work on his Aberrant and the broader build. Talent branches and Artifacts interact with weapon choices, but their exact retail values and every upgrade prerequisite have not been published.

New Game Plus carries Aberrant upgrades forward and adds more progression options. Treat that as a reason to save a first-run build rather than assuming one playthrough unlocks every combination.

What the preview choices reveal

The Xbox hands-on names three Primary choices—Flurry, Slash and Slice—and three later Secondary choices—Crush, Drill and Extend. We use those descriptions to compare attack roles, not to claim a complete retail catalog.

A separate Combo Ender pool completes the shown structure. The Form comparison file puts the six named choices side by side, while this page explains the Aberrant as Dylan's single transforming weapon.

05 / Field notes

A weapon, a loadout, and a resource loop

The Aberrant is one transforming weapon, not a collection of six unrelated drops. A build combines a Primary Form, a Secondary Form and a Combo Ender. The Forms page compares the named early choices by combat role; this page explains the system holding them together. The Gap is where players review and change the resulting setup outside combat.

The reason to compare Forms is the resource loop around them. Melee hits restore Combat Ability resource, abilities can stun enemies, and executions temporarily improve melee damage. A slower or wider attack pattern changes how easily you keep that loop going against a given group. Preview footage shows the principle, not reliable final damage rankings for each Form.

The Aberrant: what players need to know

We compare the six named choices by speed, crowd reach, sustained contact and heavy impact. A trailer is not enough for us to call any one of them best in slot.
