02 / Field notes
What did the Hiss do in CONTROL?
The Hiss was the hostile resonance behind the Oldest House emergency Jesse confronted. It corrupted Bureau personnel and made the organization's headquarters an unsafe place. Dylan's original-game history also includes the Hiss, but he is not simply the same enemy role in Resonant.
The earlier game had named Hiss enemy variants and specific containment conditions. Those are useful background for recognizing the faction, not a verified list of every foe Dylan will fight in Manhattan.

What is known in Resonant?
Remedy's published description says the Hiss is among the influences overtaking Manhattan after threats spilled beyond the Oldest House. The Mold and new paranatural forces also appear, so calling every red-lit opponent a Hiss variant would blur distinct threats.
We index bosses called Resonants separately. A trailer can help us identify a faction, but final health, drops, weaknesses and the full roster need a check against the released game.
04 / Field notes
An old threat in a new setting
The Hiss defined the Oldest House emergency in CONTROL and returns among the threats affecting Manhattan. We are not copying its 2019 roster straight into the new bestiary, because Resonant changes the setting, movement and melee-focused combat loop.
When a preview shows an enemy, distinguish its visible attack from its presumed faction. Metro Fault also features Mold opposition; Resonants form another encounter category. Grouping all three under 'Hiss' would make an enemy index easier to fill but less useful in play. This file preserves the continuity context while leaving new-game combat claims to observed encounters.

The Hiss: what players need to know
We use Hiss for the returning hostile influence, not as a catch-all for every Manhattan enemy. The old bestiary cannot replace a weakness guide checked against the new game.
