CONTROL Resonant New Game Plus Wiki

NG+ carries much of Dylan's combat progression into a fresh run while story-gated traversal abilities reset. It also broadens Talent, ability and Artifact combinations.

02 / Field notes

Why is the second run different?

Remedy says a first playthrough cannot unlock everything. NG+ allows new Talent nodes and combinations of different Combat Abilities gained from the same boss. That makes it a build-experiment run, not merely the same campaign with bigger numbers.

The world also pushes back: enemies and encounters evolve, and some bosses may have new behaviors. The announcement does not provide a fixed level scaling formula or list every modified encounter.

What needs to be reacquired?

Traversal abilities remain tied to the story and do not carry over. That is different from supernatural Combat Abilities, which are explicitly part of the retained progression. Plan exploration around renewed route gates even if your combat build is already developed.

World Quests, bounties, collectibles and alternative side-story outcomes are reasons Remedy gives for returning. Their exact reset states and reward lists should be verified against the released game before a completion checklist is published.

What a second run changes in practice

NG+ retains Aberrant upgrades, health and combat-resource improvements, unlocked supernatural Combat Abilities, Talents and Artifacts. It also permits broader combinations, including the additional Artifact slot. The player therefore begins with combat options that were earned across the first run instead of repeating the same opening build decisions from zero.

That carryover is not universal. Story-gated traversal tools are reacquired as the route unfolds, so an upgraded weapon does not imply immediate access to every area. Read progression as two tracks: the build you bring forward and the route you still need to reopen. This distinction is especially relevant to previewed movement abilities such as Reach.

New Game Plus: what players need to know

We would keep build notes for NG+, but we would not expect old traversal shortcuts to stay open at the start of the new story.
